Massages
At Phoenix Wellness, the massage treatments are unique treatments catered to each individual's needs. The treatments are comprised of any of the variations described below.
Swedish Massage
The Swedish massage is the technique that people commonly know as the relaxation massage technique. The style can vary, depending on what the goals of the therapist are during a session: it can be slow and gentle, or vigorous and bracing. Since it can be a gentle massage, the Swedish massage is ideal for first time clients.
If you're looking to have a massage that digs deeper into the muscles and are able to tolerate more pressure, maybe a deep tissue massage is more your fancy.
Deep Tissue Massage
A deep tissue massage is another form of the Swedish massage. This type of massage consists of deeper pressures to aid in releasing chronic muscle tension. Its main focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia (the protective layer around muscles, bones, and joints).
Sports Therapy Massage
Are you a part-time jogger? A world class professional? If the answer to either question is "yes", then sports massage therapy is for you. The target of sports therapy massage are athletes of every kind, and the techniques used are specific to the type of activity the athlete performs. It focuses on areas and muscles that are stressed and overused from repetitive and sometimes aggressive movements.
Trigger Point Massage
The trigger point in your muscles transfers some pain to other parts of your body connected to that muscle; for example, if you have a trigger point in your back, it may cause neck pains, which then could cause head aches. A trigger point massage is designed to alleviate the pain by cycling through pressure that is isolated and then releasing. The massage recipient will go through deep breathing exercises, and will also aid in identifying the exact location and intensity of the discomfort.
Orthopedic Massage
For a massage that's more focused on the soft tissues in the body and the treatment for painful conditions within them, then orthopedic massage is the way to go. For this massage, an RMT (Registered Massage Therapist) may use a combination of techniques during treatment, depending on his/her style.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage is meant to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph. It's used to carry waste products away from the tissues and back towards the heart.
Note: If you have body pains, it is more likely that you will need to have a series of massages. Learn more about how often you should get a massage.
